DO YOU HAVE A CHILLER ?
IS YOUR CHILLER READY FOR SUMMER ?? Be Warned !! Whether or not you believe in global warming, Summer 2008-2009 was a stinker, and 2009-2010 is already proving to be just as bad. Day in - Day out, people walk through our doors telling us their tank crashed due to one of the hot days we have been experiencing of late. Typically people tell us, they have gone to work in the morning only to come home to find their tank has gone cloudy or scummy with drooping or dead corals throughout the tank. Often people simply dont have a chiller or their chiller has gone faulty or maybe low on gas and just cant cope with the heat. The cloudyness is usually signs of Ammonia due to dying and decaying organisims and you have probably invested good money in your corals and could literally loose them in a day. Corals are one of the few living creatures on earth that live very close to, or within a few degrees of their maximum constant temperature. In an Aquarium, 27-28 C over time, will see a loss of corals, 28-29 constantly over some weeks will see a noticible degredation of most corals and is considered a dangerously high temp for corals. 29-30 is bad news its nearly all over for them and hit 30, maybe 31 and their gone mostly in that day. Fish can handel the heat far better that corals but seeing as most people run fish with their corals, the corals are the main concern as it becomes a matter of limits not a degree of hardiness as with fish. The message here is if you have a tank with a sizeable investment in corals....YOU MUST GET A CHILLER !!! DO YOU HAVE CHILLER PROBLEMS ?Is your chiller dead, ? Is your chiller not cooling the tank like it did last summer. ? Is your chiller noisy, ? Is your chiller running constantly or more than usual. ? Is your chiller display not reading correctly or as it should. ? Is your chiller blowing fuses. ? Does you chiller simply need a regas. ? Dont throw the chiller out just yet, maybe it just needs a service ASAP. Here at Marine Boutique we can service your chiller, often on the spot, depending on the problem and of course we have all the gear to evacuate, re-gas, clean and repair electricals, electronics, pipework, coils and fans. Simply bring your proof of purchase to us with the chiller with the correct serial number and we can chase up the warranty for you, but please ask the store where you purchased it from to supply the name of the wholesaler that supplied it to them. Hailea chillers have been moved around between various suppliers over the past few years so we need to know which supplier it came from to see if we can obtain an effective warranty from that supplier. Please remember the supplier does reserve the right to deal with the warranty how they see fit though.
