Jellyfish Pricing
PLEASE NOTE:

Some Jellyfish are seasonal animals, and therefore neither us or our suppliers will always have them in stock ready to go.

Jellyfish Pricing:

Jellyfish pricing vary, and is dependent on many things, such as type, size, season, the suppliers current price, freight costs (depending on where they are collected from), danger involved, and the colour of the animal.

Furthermore, when you buy a "Jellyfish Art" tank from us, you will automatically become a member of the Jelly Club. This membership instantly means, it enables you to buy, (stock availability permitting), your common Jellies such as Moons, Upside downs and Comb Jellyfish from us from 25% to 80% cheaper, as shown in the tables below. There will be other Jellies added to this membership soon too. This subsidisation is normally only available to in-store customers because of a number of cost issues that arise when dealing with long distance customers sorry, so please read the terms under the tables below.

Presently Moon's and Up-Side down Jellies are among the cheapest and easiest to collect and keep.

Current indicative pricing of common jellies is set out in tables below, but we do also get Aussie spotted Jellies, Jimbles, Box Jellies and the tiny Irukandji jellies from time to time.

Packaging & Pickup:

If you live in Sydney and intend picking up from us directly, this is a simple process to bag them up, simply take home in the car and therefor can avoid the need of any special packaging fees, plus it is a lot quicker for us but you will need to make and appointment to let us know when you are coming to collect, as we don't always have someone here to bag jellies for you.

However if you intend to have Jellies delivered via courier or regular mail, please note a couple of things.

A).This involves us spending considerable more time organising couriers, or sending a staff member to the post office, packing boxes, and printing labels, so we need to charge a $10 - $20 fee to cover our time.

B) We may need to charge for the packaging material itself. such as cardboard or foam boxes, plastic bags, labels, bubble wrap, paper and tape, so we need to charge between $10 - $30 to cover the packaging which is also often determined by the type of animal.

C) We usually quote packing & handling first, although it is an option so you can decide if its worth the additional expense of a foam box or container. The species of Jelly will also determine the way its packed and may be mandatory in foam boxes because of the nature of the animal and make for a safer trip for the Jellies

D) For the health of the Jellies, we will only ship Jellies on a Monday Tuesday or Wednesday to the inter city locations.

E) NO Courier company in Australia that we know of has a "Fragile Service" anymore, so fragile stickers mean nothing and we simply can't guarantee the "Alive Arival" of theses animals when shipped via courier or post.

As tough as some Jellies are in nature, in terms of water conditions, they are delicate to the physical touch and therefore can't be thrown around in transit. Whilst all care is taken, Marine Boutique and the freight companies will not accept liability for any losses as we cannot say exactly how they have been handled in transit, however we will usually mark the box as "Fragile" or " Live Animals" anyway but it doess get ignored, and hence we simply cant offer an "Arrive Alive" guarantee for any livestock we send via courier.

So we DO recommend that you request a foam packing box for their best chance of survival.

Boxes typically range in price depending on size from approx $15 for a 5kg to $25 for a 25kg payload but as stated above, we will always quote you first and give you your options.

As a guide, any more than 3 Medium sized moon Jellies, or any amount of Large or X-Large sized moon Jellyfish will require a foam boxes for transportation as packaging in cardboard can sometimes see the bags burst in transit killing you jellies.

To give you an idea of the amount of water we will pack in, and hence a weight of 1kg per litre, you should allow approximately 0.75 Litre per cm of Jellyfish in tiny to small, and approximately 0.5 Litres per cm for Mediums to Large. X-Large will need to be quoted on a needs basis.

Disclaimer:
It is extremely important to note that some Jellyfish can deliver a sting from a mild tingle to severe pain and in some cases certain animals such as the Irukandji can deliver an extremely painful sting that will most likely result in death, especially if medical treatment is not sort or available immediately.
